Well everyone was pretty sure that the Rockland Pirates were the real deal when they arrived on Monday. It wasn't their bats that gave you that feeling, it was that mound corp that they have assembled over the past few years that compelled you to vote on their side of any inning and virtually any game. If the name of the game is pitching, then Rockland was definitly standing in that line a lot longer than the rest of the teams.
Of course in the championship game, it doesn't hurt to support your pitching staff by playing errorless baseball as well. In spite of being out hit 8-6, Rockland used their experience to bunch their hits and take advantage of McKeever 's four errors.
Frankie Nigro, clearly the Pirates answer to Charley Browns "Pig Pen", had a day going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. and a run scored, was the tourneys MVP.
There are two critical elements to success in these type of tourney's: a deep pitching staff and a grewat defense. Rockland will have both in Leesburg.
We all wish them Best of Luck
