Saratoga Stampede showed the rest of the field that when you fall into the losers brackets, everyone and every facet of the game contributes to winning a double elimination tournament.
Needing to win two on the final day, the Stampede strapped them on and simply would not be denied. Playing every pitch and every inning one at a time, keeping focused and not letting any outside distractions from proving that they would be the best in New York State, the Stampede has sent Manager Dale Long and Assistant Coach David Anderson home with a well deserved trophy.
Saratoga saw the first inning toss them back by one run and that seemed more like an inconvienence than a deficit. The "Stede" then methodically dispatched of Middletown, as they did Saugerties the first game today and Whitestown the night before. It was no contest when they exploded on Whitestown in the sixth with 7 runs and from that point on, they never would be denied. They let it loose in the 5th against Saugerties and posted another 7 against Middletown to seal the deal in the 4th to claim the 2012 Title.
Middletown was no surprise in the tournament. They got there and played great baseball all the way through. They played hard and showed that without a doubt, they are a top program in New York State.
Congradulations to the Saratoga Stampede, their Head Coach and his staff and to all their players. Great job. You'll make New York American Legion proud to be represented by you in Old Orchard Beach, Maine next week.
