Rules, Rules, & More Rules

Baseball is a game governed by rules.  The rules for American Legion Baseball seemed to have grown over the years.  Click here to review the National Rule Book, click here to review the Department of New York By-Laws, and click here to review the District 5 By-Laws.

For those of you that prefer the cliff notes, there are two important changes coming in the future.

Beginning in 2014, American Legion Baseball in New York State will be played with wood bats only.

Beginning in 2015, on a national level, the age restrictions to play Legion Baseball are changing.  The following is an excerpt from the National Rule Book; "Senior American Legion Baseball competition in 2015 will be open to those student athletes who were enrolled as junior high or high school students during the school term immediately preceding the league season. High school students who graduated early during the school term are eligible to compete if they are not enrolled in a college, university, trade school or other institution of higher learning before the start of department regular season play.  Junior American Legion Baseball competition in 2015 will be open only to players born on or after January 1, 1998.  Junior Legion Baseball shall be limited to ages 17 and younger."
