A Letter From The New York State Baseball Chairman

Bruce Mayfield

2016 will mark the 91st year of American Legion Baseball.  Those sponsoring posts and their loyal members have given countless hours of their personal time as well as financial support, to the thousands of of young men wearing the American Legion patch on their sleeve. The loyalty displayed by this great organization makes American Legion Baseball second to none in all amature sports.

In New York State our baseball program has shown tremendous resilence to the constant onslaught of other choices facing our children these days.  Legion baseball still provides a consistent, well organized and world wide recognition for developing top college and major league quality players.  That training and background comes in second to the honor of wearing an American Legion uniform representing the millions of men and woman that served and protected this great country in its time of need.

i wish all players, their coaches and managers and their sponsoring posts the very best in 2016.  I look forward to seeing the eight best New York Statt American Legion teams battling for th title of New York State Department of New York Champion in Utica, New York the last week in July.

Bruce Mayfield
Department Baseball Chairman
